Nashville is celebrating Dolly Parton on September 25, and we’re joining the celebration at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage!
Dolly has a special connection to The Hermitage. In 1976, she filmed an episode of her syndicated television variety show, Dolly, at The Hermitage, including a performance of “The Battle of New Orleans” in front of the Mansion. On Dolly Day, guests can explore the places connected to her visit and discover more about the history of music at The Hermitage.
Stand Where Dolly Stood
For one day only, the Hermitage balcony—normally reserved for VIP tours—will be open to all guests. Step onto the balcony where Dolly stood during filming and see the Mansion from her vantage point.
Music at The Hermitage
Join special gallery talks at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. in the Born for a Storm exhibition in the Andrew Jackson Center. These talks will explore the history of music at The Hermitage and the musical connections found throughout the site.
A Special Guitar Display
For Dolly Day, Sarah York Jackson’s guitar, normally displayed in the Mansion’s Back Parlor, will be brought together with the Old Hickory Gibson guitar in the Born for a Storm exhibition. The Old Hickory Gibson was crafted using wood salvaged from trees damaged by the 1998 tornado at The Hermitage.
